Summary:
WOW Forever Gold continues to change during beta testing, with Blizzard addressing gathering exploits while players discover new quest rewards, dungeon mechanics, racial abilities, gear sets, and long-term progression ideas. This update also reveals important concerns about skinning raids, dungeon experience, race balance, and the future of professions and character customization.
1. Skinning Raids and the Economy
WoW Forever currently allows multiple players with Skinning to skin the same creature. This has led to organized skinning raids, where large groups farm hundreds of leather materials in a short time. One reported Wetlands group collected more than 200 leather pieces and hides in about 50 minutes.
While shared Skinning can be useful for friends, large farming groups could dramatically increase material supply and reduce the income of normal solo gatherers. Blizzard may need to monitor this system during beta and consider limits if organized groups begin dominating important farming locations.
2. Blizzard Fixes the Tauren Gathering Exploit
Blizzard has also changed the Tauren Cultivation racial. Previously, low-level Tauren could use Cultivation to gather high-level herbs, creating an opportunity for bots and other exploits.
The new system adds character-level requirements based on the herb's Herbalism requirement. The required Herbalism skill is divided by five. For example, a herb requiring 250 Herbalism now requires a level 50 character for Cultivation to work. The racial cooldown has also reportedly been reduced from 23 hours to one hour, preserving its usefulness while preventing low-level access to advanced herbs.
3. Racial Balance Still Needs Attention
Racial abilities remain an important balance discussion. Gnome Eureka has already received adjustments, while community feedback continues to focus on weaker options such as Dwarf and Skyborne.
Dwarf abilities such as Treasure Finding and Storm Form could receive additional improvements, while Skyborne's racial package may need more impact. Meanwhile, Orc has several powerful utility and offensive options, including Blood Fury, stun reduction, magic-related utility, and Axe Specialization.
4. New Torch and Drowned City Dungeon
The Night Watchman's Torch can be obtained through a quest in Raven Hill. It provides a real light source while exploring dark areas such as Duskwood, although it disappears during combat and cannot be used in cities.
The new Drowned City dungeon also has a unique underwater entrance guarded by Naga, giving players another reason to explore the world before entering an instance.
5. Dungeon XP and New Healer Set
Dungeon quest rewards now provide a large portion of dungeon experience, while normal enemy kills provide less XP. This could encourage groups to stealth past enemies and focus on bosses or objectives. Blizzard is monitoring the balance between quest XP and kill XP.
The Rott Mender Raiment is another notable discovery. Its bonuses provide Intellect, threat reduction, emergency mana restoration, and additional healing effects, making it potentially useful for leveling healers.
6. Beta Growth and Long-Term Progression
Blizzard has increased the WoW Forever beta population cap again. Players are also discussing long-term progression, including valuable old gear, professions, collectibles, mounts, cosmetics, World of Warcraft: Forever Gold, and class-specific questlines.
Community feedback favors meaningful rewards such as unique class appearances and optional long-term goals. Players also want older equipment to remain useful for different builds instead of being replaced immediately.
New music for areas such as Highjaw General, Doll Village, and Gustberry Lowlands further gives the new zones their own identity. Overall, WoW Forever's beta continues to expand its systems while Blizzard responds to emerging balance and economy issues.
