Summary:
WoW Forever completely reworks all nine classes with new talents, capstones, abilities, and specialization options. The level 20 Beta cannot fully show how every build will perform at level 60, but some classes already feel especially strong. Hunter currently dominates leveling and PvP, while Paladin and Restoration Druid offer powerful new gameplay. Shaman receives major quality-of-life improvements, while Warrior, Rogue, Mage, Priest, WoW Midnight Gold, and Warlock still need more testing at higher levels.
1. Hunter
Hunter is currently one of the strongest Beta classes, especially for leveling and PvP. Pets provide excellent damage, and a Beta bug can currently let them level beyond the cap. Survival becomes a much stronger melee option with Mongoose Bite, Lacerating Strikes, and Strider Kick. Marksmanship gets Lone Wolf and baseline Aimed Shot, while Hunter DoTs can critically strike. The full Survival tree is still difficult to test at level 20 because several important talents unlock later.
2. Paladin
Paladin receives one of the biggest gameplay changes because Protection can now operate as a dedicated tank. Seal of Fury, Judgment as a taunt, and Consecration improve threat generation. Retribution gains Twist of Light, creating automated seal-twisting interactions, while Holy receives more tools to improve Holy Shock and damage scaling. Early Beta gameplay shows strong sustained damage and reliable multi-target leveling, although Protection's AoE threat after four targets remains important to watch.
3. Warrior
Warrior retains its familiar weapon-dependent gameplay but gains useful improvements. Weapon Master combines weapon talents, allowing players to switch between weapon types without repeatedly respeccing. Victory Rush and Attack Mastery become baseline, Boundless Rage adds 30 Rage, and Protection gains Vanguard. Arms also receives better Overpower and Slam interactions. Its early gameplay remains familiar, while its final performance will depend heavily on endgame scaling and gear.
4. Rogue
Rogue's biggest change is Assassination becoming a complete poison-focused specialization. Mutilate and Venom create a clearer poison-based build, while Hack and Slash provides greater weapon flexibility. Rogues already deal strong damage, but much of their new toolkit is difficult to evaluate at level 20. The class remains familiar for experienced Rogue players while offering more specialization options later.
5. Shaman
Shaman receives a major quality-of-life upgrade through its totems. Call of the Elements can deploy multiple totems at once, while Totemic Projection lets players move them. Instant Ghost Wolf also improves mobility. Elemental gets Lava Burst, Enhancement gains Rage of the Far Seer, and Restoration receives Riptide. These changes make Shaman much smoother, especially as more talents unlock.
6. Mage
Mage's major update revolves around proc-based gameplay. Arcane gains Missile Barrage interactions, Fire receives Hot Streak, and Frost gains Fingers of Frost and Ice Lance. Frostfire Bolt also adds another option, while Fire DoTs can critically strike. Mage appears less popular in the early Beta, but its higher-level potential remains significant.
7. Priest
Priest gains several powerful baseline abilities, including Devouring Plague, Fear Ward, and Shadow Word: Death. DoTs can critically strike, while Shadow Form helps solve mana problems. Discipline receives stronger damage-focused options through Smite. Healing builds still require more testing, particularly around Prayer of Mending and Penance choices.
8. Druid
Druid receives major changes across all three roles. Balance gets Eclipse and critical DoTs, while Feral gains Mangle, Lacerate, Tiger's Fury, King of the Jungle, and Berserk. Restoration looks particularly strong with Wild Growth as a capstone, faster global cooldowns, and improved Rejuvenation and Swiftmend interactions. Feral's real value will depend on its level 60 dungeon and raid performance.
9. Warlock
Warlock receives a major tree rework, with every specialization gaining a new capstone. Demonology gets Demonic Pact, Destruction gains Incinerate and Fire and Brimstone interactions, WoW Midnight Gold for sale, and DoTs can critically strike. Pandemic also improves critical scaling. Warlocks currently appear powerful but relatively fragile, so higher-level testing will determine how well their pets and defensive talents compensate.
Overall, Hunter currently has the strongest early leveling and PvP presence, while Paladin, Restoration Druid, and Shaman offer major improvements. However, the Beta cap is moving higher, so these early impressions can change substantially before launch.
