Summary:

Ruins of Lordaeron is a new five-player dungeon in WoW Forever that offers a challenging experience for low-level groups. The instance features dense undead packs, patrols, heavy incoming damage, difficult healer threat, and limited crowd control at early levels. Players can make the run easier by bringing a higher-level tank, preparing the right classes, and avoiding unnecessary pulls. While the dungeon can be entered during the mid-levels, WoW Midnight Gold, its difficulty may make it feel closer to a hard-mode leveling dungeon.

1. Meet the Level Requirements

The dungeon quest requires players to reach level 15. However, simply meeting the quest requirement does not necessarily mean the instance will be easy.

Beta testing showed that groups around levels 14 to 16 could struggle significantly. A level 17 or 18 tank is recommended for a more manageable run, while DPS players should ideally be around level 16 or 17 or higher.

The final dungeon balance may still change during the beta, so these recommendations should be treated as practical testing advice rather than fixed requirements.

2. Watch the Dense Undead Packs

Ruins of Lordaeron contains many tightly packed enemies and several patrols. Accidentally pulling an additional group can quickly turn into a wipe, especially because low-level characters have limited crowd-control options.

Some undead groups contain five or six enemies. These large packs can be particularly dangerous when the group lacks reliable crowd control and the tank cannot generate enough area threat.

Keep the party together, watch patrol movements, and avoid rushing into the next group before the tank has control of the current enemies.

3. Control Healer Threat

One of the biggest problems reported during testing was healer threat. Large pulls can cause enemies to immediately target the healer, creating additional pressure when the tank is still building threat.

Warriors can provide useful area threat through Thunder Clap, while Druids may have additional tools that help manage multiple enemies. Warlocks and Hunters can also provide temporary off-tank support through their pets.

If using a Paladin tank at a very early level, groups may need to be more careful until additional threat tools become available.

4. Prepare for the Bosses

The final boss is level 20, so players should not underestimate the level difference. The dungeon also contains a Patchwerk-like boss that can remove a large portion of the tank's health with heavy attacks.

Healers should prepare for sudden damage spikes, while tanks need to maintain positioning and threat. Having a few levels above the minimum can provide valuable extra survivability and make mistakes less punishing.

5. Treat It as a Hard-Mode Leveling Dungeon

The overall layout and atmosphere can remind players of Shadowfang Keep, but Ruins of Lordaeron has its own difficulty curve. The combination of dense packs, patrols, undead enemies, limited early crowd control, and strong damage makes overpulling especially dangerous.

For the smoothest experience, bring a higher-level tank, keep DPS slightly above the minimum, communicate before large pulls, and avoid unnecessary fights.

6. Think About Long-Term Farming

Although the dungeon is designed for low-level progression, its loot could also create future farming opportunities. Higher-level characters, particularly Mages or other efficient solo farmers, may eventually return for easy green items and buy WoW Midnight Gold materials for disenchanting.

For leveling groups, however, the main priority should be survival and controlled pulls. As the beta continues, players should watch for changes to enemy health, damage, crowd-control behavior, and recommended dungeon levels.
