Summary
The ARC Raiders Frozen Trail update is shaping up to be one of the game's biggest content drops yet. Arriving on October 8, the update introduces the new Pendula Pass map, dangerous ARC enemies, the massive Frigot challenge, weapon amplification, a Grappling Hook, customizable Outposts, new weapons, ARC Raiders Items, and a new Reward Pass system.
1. Pendula Pass Takes ARC Raiders Beyond the Rust Belt
The biggest addition is Pendula Pass, a massive new region located beyond the northern mountains of the Rust Belt.
The map combines open spaces, vertical areas, tight interiors, and close-quarters locations, giving Raiders more options for both strategic play and PvP encounters. The area was once an important Exodus transportation hub, featuring locations such as an observatory, train depot, supermarket, and abandoned town square.
But the real attraction is a fallen Emperor Walker.
Celeste and Shani have tracked strange signals to the region, sending Raiders north to investigate the crashed machine. However, Pendula Pass has another major threat: Flash Freeze conditions. When the temperature suddenly drops, players will need to reach shelters or indoor locations quickly.
2. The Frigot Is a Huge Endgame Challenge
The fallen Emperor has also triggered an ARC response.
The result is the Frigot, one of the largest ARC vessels seen in the game. Rather than simply destroying it, Raiders must board the massive vessel, navigate its internal passages, solve environmental challenges, and sabotage it.
The encounter is designed for highly skilled players and can become especially dangerous when multiple squads are fighting for the same rewards.
Adding even more pressure is the Hydra, a massive turret equipped with three pairs of weapons. Players can attempt to split its attention between squads before quickly attacking its weak points.
3. Three New ARC Enemies Change Combat
Frozen Trail adds three major enemies to the ARC roster.
Bully is a huge ground-based beast designed to constantly pressure players. It aggressively charges Raiders and can create chaotic combat situations with different attacks, including ranged weaponry.
Skullker takes the opposite approach. This smaller enemy hides around the edges of combat, waits for an opening, attacks quickly, and disappears before players can easily track it.
Then there is the Hydra, which can engage multiple squads simultaneously. Surviving these encounters will require players to manage positioning instead of simply relying on firepower.
4. Amplified Weapons Could Completely Change the Meta
One of the most interesting Frozen Trail features is Weapon Amplification.
After upgrading the new Research Workstation in the Outpost, players can access a fifth quality level for 15 weapons. These upgrades are not simply traditional stat boosts. Instead, they create branching customization paths that can fundamentally change how weapons behave.
Examples shown include:
A Bettina transformed into a more advanced version
A Renegade equipped with a scope
A Rattler using a large magazine and potentially incendiary ammunition
A Bettina 5 with new upgrade paths and abilities
Some upgrades appear to require specific challenges or research progress. Once a weapon is ascended, the change may also be permanent, making each upgrade choice more meaningful.
5. New Weapons and the Grappling Hook
Frozen Trail also adds two weapons.
The Stiletto is a light-ammo battle rifle designed as an early-game alternative to the Renegade. It works well at medium and long range, although rapid firing can reduce accuracy.
The Bantam is a heavy-ammo snub-nosed revolver with a special hip-fire animation, giving it a distinct close-range playstyle.
The biggest mobility addition may be the Grappling Hook. Raiders can use it to reach difficult locations, descend buildings, swing across gaps, and potentially interact with ARC enemies.
A Tether Launcher and Tether Grenade also expand this new tether system, creating additional possibilities for PvP and environmental combat.
6. Build Your Own Outpost
Frozen Trail introduces customizable Outposts, giving Raiders a personal space between the Rust Belt and the northern mountains.
Players can add furniture, choose different modules, and use a Research Workstation to unlock higher-level weapon customization. The developers also describe the Outpost as the beginning of a feature that could become much deeper over time.
7. Reward Pass, Camera and More
The update also adds a new Reward Pass, replacing the old Raider Deck progression for Frozen Trail content.
The free track includes outfits, gameplay items, cosmetics, Raider Tokens, furniture, charms, attachments, and emotes. A premium track adds additional outfit variants, weapon stencils, hairstyles, and other cosmetics.
Players will also receive a new camera system with zoom, autofocus, manual focus, aperture controls, and selfie features, plus two new instruments: the banjo and harmonica.
Final Thoughts
ARC Raiders Frozen Trail is far more than a new map. Pendula Pass expands the world, the Frigot introduces a dangerous new endgame challenge, and Weapon Amplification gives veteran Raiders a new reason to revisit their favorite guns. With the Grappling Hook, Outposts, new enemies, weapons, and ARC Raiders Items for sale, and progression systems arriving together, October 8 could mark a major new chapter for ARC Raiders.
