Summary
ARC Raiders’ Frozen Trail update has more in store than the original trailer revealed. Alongside the new snowy map, Embark has confirmed a major skill tree rework, Weapon Amplification, dynamic loot zones, Outpost customization, new quests, and more. These systems could reshape how players build characters, choose weapons, and explore the new map, making ARC Raiders Items useful for players preparing for the new progression and challenges.
1. Skill Tree Rework Adds More Meaningful Choices
The skill tree is getting one of its biggest changes yet on October 8.
The three existing paths will remain:
Mobility
Conditioning
Survival
However, new gate points will add more meaningful choices throughout each path.
At these points, players can choose between different mechanical skills rather than simply picking another passive bonus.
For example, a Mobility skill allows you to:
Keep sprinting after your stamina reaches zero
Continue moving as long as you don't stop
Build up a stamina debt
Recover that stamina after stopping
Players who reach the end of a skill path can unlock even more mechanical abilities.
The level cap is still 75, so you won't be able to unlock everything. Choosing the right combination will matter more than before.
The extra 15 skill points from Expeditions will also remain.
When Frozen Trail launches, all players will receive a free skill tree reset, allowing everyone to rebuild their character.
2. Weapon Amplification Could Change the PvP Meta
Weapon Amplification is one of the most important new endgame systems.
At launch, 15 weapons can be upgraded into Level 5 amplified versions with new effects and Legendary rarity.
You'll need Amplification Modules to upgrade them.
There are five module tiers:
Mark 1
Mark 2
Mark 3
Mark 4
Mark 5
These modules can come from the Frigot and Fallen Emperor, giving players another reason to tackle the new endgame content.
Some examples already revealed include:
Hairpin
Semi-automatic firing
Faster follow-up shots
A run-and-gun modification
Rattler
Fire-round modification
Works against ARC enemies
Can also damage players over time
This system could also make weaker weapons worth keeping instead of simply replacing them.
There is a major catch: amplified weapons remain risky to lose.
If you kill another player and take their amplified weapon, it will have only 10% durability after being recovered. You also cannot properly repair it until you've researched that weapon yourself.
3. Frozen Trail Brings Dynamic Loot Zones
Pendula Pass is introducing a new dynamic loot zone system.
The rarity of certain areas can change between matches.
For example:
A location could be a high-tier loot zone in one match
The same location could have a much lower tier in another
High-tier zones will provide better overall loot quality and quantity
This isn't completely random loot.
Container types will still determine what kind of items you can find. The main change is the overall rarity and value of different areas.
That should make familiar loot routes less predictable.
4. Flash Freeze Adds Risk and Reward
Pendula Pass also has a new Flash Freeze event.
It's a localized weather effect that is always part of the map rather than a traditional map condition.
Compared with Cold Snap, Flash Freeze is:
More intense
Limited to a smaller area
Built around a specific risk-reward mechanic
Civilian shelters will open inside the affected area, giving players an incentive to enter the freezing zone.
Frozen doors are another new environmental feature. Players can:
Use fire or a flamethrower
Melt the ice
Break through with the Raider Tool
So even basic exploration will have some new interactions.
5. Outpost Is Only the Beginning
The Outpost expands the old Raider Den system.
Players will be able to:
Unlock different rooms
Place furniture
Display collected trinkets
Find furniture blueprints
Create themed spaces
You can even turn parts of the Outpost into dedicated trinket rooms.
The biggest limitation is that the Outpost isn't fully walkable yet.
Embark described it as an early version and said future development will depend heavily on player feedback.
6. Reward Pass Replaces the Cred System
The current Cred system will eventually be replaced by the new Reward Pass.
The Frozen Trail pass will include:
Free track
Cosmetics
Gameplay items
Premium track
Additional cosmetics
No gameplay advantages
The premium version costs 1,150 Raider Tokens.
More importantly, the pass does not expire.
Players can:
Start whenever they want
Progress at their own pace
Take a break without losing progress
Continue working on it later
The old Raider Decks will also become a Legacy Reward Pass.
Only one pass can be active at a time, so players will need to choose which one they want to progress.
7. Expeditions Are Being Reworked
Expeditions are taking a temporary break.
Embark said only around 5% of players have completed every Expedition, while the current system creates problems for both casual and experienced players.
The planned changes are aimed at making rewards easier to catch up on.
Instead of waiting for specific Expedition windows, players should eventually be able to work toward missed rewards at their own pace.
The new system is currently targeted for Q1 2027.
8. More Content Is Coming Beyond the Map
Frozen Trail isn't only about Pendula Pass.
Players can also expect:
New quests
More lore
Weapon stencils
New instruments
Bantam revolver
Stiletto
Additional ARC content
Future skill and progression changes
Embark also confirmed a PvE test from October 13 to October 20.
PvE will have lower risk and therefore lower rewards, while some PvP/PvE experiences will receive higher-value rewards to maintain the risk-reward balance.
There are still no current plans for a forced wipe.
However, Embark said that could change if a future major milestone, event, or expansion makes a wipe appropriate.
Final Thoughts
Frozen Trail is shaping up to be much more than a new map. The skill tree rework and Weapon Amplification alone could significantly change progression and weapon choices, while dynamic loot zones should make Pendula Pass less predictable.
Add the Outpost, Reward Pass, new quests, Flash Freeze, and the upcoming PvE test, and October 8 looks like a major new chapter for ARC Raiders. With so many new systems arriving at once, cheap ARC Raiders Items could also help players prepare for the new progression and challenges.
