Summary

The WoW Forever Beta has already changed how Paladins level, tank and heal compared with Classic. Holy Strike arrives early, Consecration becomes baseline at level 20, Protection gets a real taunt through Seal of Fury, and Retribution gains a much more active Seal system. This guide breaks down the current Paladin builds, key talents, leveling path, tanking tools, Holy healing and the new Seal Twisting system, while also covering how WOW Forever Gold can support your progression.

1. Which Paladin Spec Should You Play in WoW Forever?

Paladin remains one of the most flexible classes in WoW Forever because it can fill three major roles: melee DPS, tank and healer. However, each specialization has a very different purpose.

GoalRecommended SpecMain Reason
Solo LevelingRetributionStrong melee damage, Holy Strike and Seal of Command
Dungeon TankingProtectionSeal of Fury, Consecration and stronger defensive tools
HealingHolyHoly Shock and new healing interactions
PvPRetribution / HolyStrong utility, healing and defensive options
Hybrid PlayHoly/RetributionSupports a Shockadin-style approach

For most players starting a new Paladin, Retribution is the simplest general leveling route. It gives you reliable melee damage while reducing some of the Mana problems that traditionally slow Paladin leveling.

Protection becomes much more interesting once you start running dungeons, while Holy has received enough new interactions to make healing feel less like simply repeating Flash of Light.

2. Holy Strike and Consecration Completely Change Early Leveling

Two abilities stand out immediately in the current Beta.

Holy Strike becomes available from level 6. It is an instant melee attack that deals Holy damage and has a 12-second cooldown. That gives Paladins an active offensive button much earlier instead of relying heavily on auto attacks.

Then, at level 20, Consecration becomes a baseline ability rather than a talent.

The current version lasts eight seconds and has an additional damage component for the first four enemies entering the area. This gives both Retribution and Protection a useful AoE tool without forcing players to spend talent points on it.

However, Consecration still costs Mana, so it should not automatically be used against every enemy.

A simple leveling rule:

  • Use Holy Strike whenever it is available.

  • Save Consecration for multi-target pulls and dungeon packs.

  • Avoid wasting Mana on Consecration for a single weak enemy.

  • At level 20, take advantage of the new AoE without turning every pull into a Mana drain.

3. Retribution Is the Best Starting Build

Retribution gets some of the most noticeable improvements in WoW Forever. Its talents improve Mana efficiency, movement speed, critical-strike scaling and Seal interactions.

The current level-20 route is straightforward:

LevelTalentRankPurpose
10–14Benediction5/5Reduces Mana pressure
15–16Improved Judgment2/2More frequent Judgment
17–19Conviction3/5Adds early crit scaling
20Seal of Command1/1Major two-handed DPS milestone

Level 20 is particularly important because you gain Seal of Command and baseline Consecration at the same point.

From level 21 onward, the build can continue toward stronger Mana management and mobility:

  • Sanctified Judgment 3/3 for the Judgment-based Mana loop.

  • Pursuit of Justice 2/2 for movement speed.

  • Sacred Arbiter to improve Holy Strike and refresh Judgment effects.

  • Crusade 2/2 for additional damage.

  • Finish the early Conviction investment.

Later, Retribution can move toward Two-Handed Weapon Specialization, Vengeance, Champion of the Light and eventually Twist of Light.

4. Protection Paladin Finally Gets a Real Tanking Identity

Protection is one of the biggest Paladin redesigns in WoW Forever.

The biggest change is Seal of Fury. While active, it adds Holy damage to melee attacks, provides a shield-based absorb effect and changes Judgment into a Holy-damage attack that taunts the target for four seconds.

That does not give Paladins a conventional standalone Taunt button, but it creates a functional threat system that was missing from the old Classic toolkit.

Protection ToolMain Function
Seal of FuryJudgment taunt + Holy damage
Improved Seal of FuryHelps Mana recovery
Shield SpecializationConnects blocking with resource management
ConsecrationBaseline AoE threat
Swift JudgmentRecovery after a missed Judgment
Iron CreedAdds defensive value to Holy Strike
Templar's BulwarkLarge emergency absorb

Protection still has an important weakness: there is no conventional interrupt. That means a Protection Paladin will still depend on party members to handle dangerous spell casts.

5. Holy Paladin Gets a More Active Healing Rotation

Holy is also being redesigned around more interaction between its spells.

Holy Shock becomes a central part of the rotation, while talents such as Infusion of Light, Reverence and Light's Vigil add additional decisions after critical effects and Holy Shock usage.

The basic toolkit now looks like this:

AbilityRole
Holy ShockInstant healing/damage and talent trigger
Flash of LightFast direct healing
Holy LightLarger direct heal
Infusion of LightFollow-up healing effect
Light's VigilParty healing or damage interaction

This gives Holy more sequencing than the traditional “spam efficient heal” approach. Its final raid position is still uncertain because the Beta has not established complete level-60 raid balance.

6. How Seal Twisting Works in WoW Forever

Seal Twisting is another major difference from Classic.

Traditional Seal Twisting relied heavily on replacing a Seal during a narrow weapon swing window. Twist of Light turns this into a more deliberate mechanic.

When you replace certain Seals, including Seal of Command, Seal of Righteousness, Seal of Fury or Seal of Justice, you gain an Echo. Your next melee attack then applies the replaced Seal's effect and consumes that Echo.

For Retribution, the basic priority is:

  1. Maintain the Seal that fits the situation.

  2. Use Judgment without worrying about losing your active Seal.

  3. Keep Holy Strike in your rotation.

  4. Use Consecration when the Mana cost is justified.

  5. Use Twist of Light when you intentionally want the Echo effect.

  6. Use Exorcism, Holy Wrath and Hammer of Wrath when their conditions are met.

Importantly, Seal Twisting is not mandatory for every Retribution build. The talent structure leaves room for Holy Shock-oriented hybrid builds as well.

7. Undead Paladin Opens a New Horde Option

One of the most notable changes outside the talent trees is the arrival of the Undead Paladin.

At launch, the announced Paladin race options are:

FactionPaladin Races
AllianceHuman, Dwarf
HordeUndead

Undead Paladins also receive dedicated Forsaken story content and a level-60 epic mount quest with a Retribution theme. Their racial toolkit can also interact with Paladin gameplay, including Mana recovery through Cannibalize.

This makes the Undead Paladin more than a cosmetic race choice; it is tied directly into the expanded Horde Paladin fantasy.

8. WoW Forever Paladin Builds at Level 60

The Beta has not yet provided enough information to treat any level-60 build as completely final. Current options are better viewed as build directions.

BuildMain RoleCore Idea
Deep RetributionDPS/PvPTwo-handed damage + Seal interactions
Ret/Holy HybridShockadinHoly Shock + melee pressure
ProtectionTankSeal of Fury + shield + threat tools
Deep HolyHealerHoly Shock + healing interactions

Current public simulation data has also shown promising numbers for Retribution, but one Beta-era simulation is not enough to establish final raid rankings. Itemization, encounters and rotations can still change before the level-60 environment is fully available.

Final Thoughts

WoW Forever Paladin is much more than a slightly upgraded Classic Paladin. Retribution gets a stronger leveling flow, Protection gains a genuine taunt path, Holy receives a more interactive healing system, and Seal Twisting becomes an intentional mechanic rather than a difficult swing-timer trick.

For players leveling during the current Beta, Retribution is the most straightforward starting point. Protection is worth considering for dungeon-focused players, while Holy offers a more active healing experience. As the Beta expands toward higher levels, the biggest question will be how these redesigned tools perform in actual level-60 raids, especially for players looking for cheap WOW Forever Gold to support their progression.
